Dear Parents,
It has been wonderful getting
to know your children this week and watching them learn! Everyone is becoming
familiar with fourth grade expectations and routines. They have been working
hard and adjusting well. Many of them have told me, “the day goes by so fast!”
I reminded them that time flies when you are having fun. Every day they become
more independent and responsible. I truly enjoy seeing their smiling faces each
morning!
Have
you noticed the daily check mark in your child’s Assignment Book? Every
day a student will earn a star, check, or N.
A star means he/she had an excellent day and
went above and beyond in learning and/or how they treated others.
A check means he/she did everything that was
expected of them, with some assistance and/or redirection from the teacher.
A N means he/she needs improvement in
behavior.
A note about the behavior means he/she is
really struggling with this issue, and I feel you need to be aware of it.
For the first two weeks of school, I’ll be
giving out checks while students learn the procedures and expectations of
fourth grade. I can already tell, though, that we are going to have lots
of stars! This is a great bunch of kids!
The first Reading Logs of the
year begin today and are located in the Click Book. The first one is due next
Friday (August 23rd). I have explained how these work to the class,
and all necessary instructions are on the sheet. Please leave these in
the Click Book.
Finally, you’ll find 10 of
next week’s spelling words below. The remaining 10 will come from words
we’ve worked with and practiced in class. This is to test their ability
to “transfer” the knowledge, using the spelling pattern. We take our
spelling tests on Friday.
Have a relaxing and fun weekend!
