Newsletter - October 11th

Dear Parents & Students,

Today marks the end of first quarter.  Can you believe how quickly these past nine weeks have flown by?  Time really does fly when you’re having fun!

Conferences are next week and we’ve got everyone signed up!  I’m looking forward to sitting down with you.  Feel free to bring your child with you if you want, as he/she holds the most power in their learning.   I enjoy this conferencing time that allows us to focus on celebrating successes and setting goals for even more!

We are having Traditional Conferences.  At this time, you will receive your child’s grade card. As we only have 15 minutes per conference, our time together will be quick, but efficient.  If more time is needed, I’m more than happy to schedule another time for us to talk.

Next Friday, we will be celebrating our first quarter success with a Read In! Students are encouraged to wear pajamas and bring a blanket and one stuffed animal to read to.  We’ll spend most of the day cuddled up with our favorite books.

Finally, this Tuesday (October 15th) is Summit PTA’s Chili & Bingo night from 5:00-7:00.  Grab some dinner and win some prizes, too.  Wendy’s chili, frito pie, chili cheese nachos, and chili dogs are just some of the things that will be served.

Looking forward to seeing you next week!

Newsletter - October 4th

Dear Parents,
I have to start by bragging on our students!  They are doing a great job of being focused, doing their best, and working at a fourth grade pace.  Let me tell you, lots of learning can happen when these three things are in place!

It’s hard to believe that one week from today marks the end of First Quarter.  We’ve certainly done a lot of growing during these eight weeks.  First Quarter sets the foundation for the rest of the year.  I just want to remind students that the last week’s worth of grades can really make a difference if they are on the “edge” of a particular goal.  Stay focused, keep working hard, and doing your best to give 100% to your work.

Parent/Teacher conferences are coming up in a couple of weeks.  Please make sure you have signed up for a time for us to meet.

Finally, Multiplication Contracts start next week for students who scored less than 80% on the timed “Mad Minute”.  It is their job to make sure and ask you to write studied facts in their Assignment Book.  They can study with flash card or this website (http://www.multiplication.com/games).

Have a fabulous weekend!  It sounds like it might feel a bit more fall like.  J
